Life as a CHU student is about more than just excellent academic offerings. Offices across the University support and assist CHU students from their first moments on campus until their last steps at Commencement. Upon graduation, students remain connected to the CHU through a range of programming and services offered through CHU Alumni Affairs and other offices.

Campus Living

At CHU, the majority of undergraduate students live on campus. Students’ friendships, academics and extracurricular activities extend into the dormitory, creating an active campus life and a vibrant residential community.

The Residential Life staff in Undergraduate Student Life works to foster strong residential communities and facilitate the ongoing development that occurs outside the classroom, supporting students by creating safe and inclusive living and learning environments where creativity and connections can flourish.

Dormitory- Providing undergraduate students with a safe and welcoming place to call home at Chang Hua University.

CHU provides a total of 1,485 beds in the male dormitory and 955 beds in the female dormitory. Each room is equipped with beds (not including mattresses), desks and chairs, wardrobes, internet, air conditioners, and so on. In addition, each dormitory has a student lounge that serves as a gathering place for students with a space to study and socialize any time of day.

To meet the various needs of boarding students, the school also has facilities such as a laundry room, hair salon, supermarket, cafeteria and so on. In your spare time, you can also go to the gym and leisure center to exercise and develop sports and leisure habits.

Off Campus Living

A street away from the gate of the school is a residential community for students. There are attractive restaurants, bookstores, supermarkets and retail stores and functions as a small student community in the university town.

Clubs and Organizations

At CHU we believe your extracurricular life can be as rewarding as your field of study. Every day brings you a fresh opportunity to expand your interests and to try something new.

Join a club or organization – choose from more than 80 on campus listed below – and you will find a great way to socialize, make friends and even develop technical and leadership skills.

You can learn new skills such as how to street dance with the Dance Club, or pursue talents you already have, like on a competitive team such as the Volleyball Club, Tennis Club or intramural sports – or get involved in groups with a service-oriented clubs, such as the Information Volunteer Club, CHU International Volunteer etc., or student organizations.

Sports and Leisure Center

Chung Hua University has a sports and leisure center in the student dormitory area. The center is equipped with a cardiopulmonary fitness training area, muscle fitness training area, stretching room, and so on. At the same time, it boasts the latest sports equipment and diversified facilities and professional staff.

Heated Indoor Pool and Sports Vennus

The indoor heated swimming pool is one of the best-equipped swimming pools in Hsinchu City. The swimming pool is equipped with a fully automatic circulating filtration and sterilization system. The water quality is pure, so that users can feel at ease. The warm water pool is open all year round. In addition to the sports and leisure center and indoor heated swimming pool, there are multiple sports venues in the CHU, such as basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, billiard courts, badminton courts, etc., which provide students with extracurricular activities and leisure sports.

Art Center

The Art Center and Gallery features multiple world-class exhibits and collections that exemplify the craftsmanship of local and national artists every year. A variety of media are represented including paintings, photographs, sculptures and ceramics. Our Art Center also held serval concerts, performing arts activities, and lectures, etc., which enhance students’ artistic cultivation and the beauty of mind and life.

Library

Our Library has a virtual reality experience area, a reading area, an audio-visual area, a journal and paper area, etc., to supports the research and learning needs for the CHU faculty members and students. The library has a rich collection of book resources. The current collection of books is about 400,000 books, more than 38,000 kinds of periodicals, more than 10,000 pieces of audio-visual materials, etc. At the same time, CHU library has interlibrary loans services with 13 university libraries such as National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua, and National Central University, etc.
